Overuse of anything may cause health problems, a similar goes with humidifiers.

Commonly it affects the human respiratory system. Human lungs are affected by misty conditions and high humidity. Hence too much humidifier usage may be led to severe respiratory issues.

Burned injuries are the major drawback of using a humidifier. The plastic body of humidifiers tends to be hot and therefore if it is kept in children's access can cause burns. Hence you need to care for special care if there are young kids in the house.

Bacteria and fungus
While air humidifiers are not the only indication of organisms, in fact, humidifiers are the perfect medium for various varieties. You must be aware of legionnaire disease, it is a serious form of pneumonia. You should change the humidifier filters and clean the humidifier tanks on regular basis. Consult your doctor if you are experiencing unexplained respiratory illness, he may recommend putting off the humidifier in some cases.

Clean regularly
Air humidifiers should be properly checked and regularly cleaned in order to avoid any health issues. Check the appliance every thrice day. You should follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If you notice any signs of stagnant water, hard water deposits, or any film collecting on the surface of the humidifier.

Noise
Almost all air humidifiers have a certain level of noise, but very few have lesser noise. You can go for ultrasonic models, these are the quietest humidifiers, and you can drop a wet towel over a radiator. The ultrasonic models are more effective when there is no alternative.

Too much moisture

Usually, an automatic humidifier puts out too much moist air. In such a case, the humidistat or hygrometers are handy gadgets to measure the moisture present in the room, since being over-moist in the atmosphere is bad for health than a dry atmosphere. The EPA suggests the humidity level should be no more than 50% for home users and 45% is ideal.

You can still regulate moisture levels even if you don’t have a humidistat. You just need to notice if there is too much moisture inside windows, droplets on windows on kitchen tiles, or fungus mold growing anywhere in the house, it is an alarming sign. You should immediately discontinue or put off the air humidifier.

White dusty Surface
You must have noticed in the home when minerals evaporate they convert into white dust and fall, and this is entirely unhealthy. This issue can only be resolved by distilled water usage because it contains fewer minerals than tap water.

A probable humidifier releases microorganisms and minerals. These may not be openly harmful to you but might affect people with asthma.

Usually, mist humidifiers are free from bacterial growth and mineral dust issues as compared to others. These operate quietly but are not energy efficient. These are not ideal for young children.
